Last Day

Dear PM Class - I can't believe tomorrow will be our last day together! It seems as though I was just learning all of your names! Many of you have text me about times for tomorrow's class and what do you need to bring.  Here is the information.  In addition you should know I have another unexpected appointment tomorrow morning.  I plan to be in class but if something unforeseen pops up M.s Morelli will be there to finish out the year officially with you.  If that happens I will set aside an afternoon to celebrate with all of my PM class that following week.  I am sending up a little ask to the universe that I can be there to shake each of your hands one more time!

Here are the deets for tomorrow...

Class is 1-3, I feel like one of the schools may have had a final that ran into our class period but when I just checked each of the schedules it appears that everyone gets out in time to make a 1:00 o'clock start time.  Please text me if there is something I do not remember.

ACHPP BUZZ In this buzz:  High School Internships KP Launch Mentoring in Medicine & Science Health Excellence and Academic Leadership Health Care Services Agency  College Internships Mentoring in Medicine & Science Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute  High School Internships KP Launch Through KP LAUNCH, Kaiser Permanente offers unique and dynamic health care internship programs that provide interns with practical job skills and experiences in a supportive environment. As a school or community organization supported by Kaiser Permanente, we invite you to encourage your youth to apply for the 2017 program.  This internship program provides youth from underserved communities and diverse backgrounds a paid full-time work experience for eight weeks over the summer.  While working, interns gain exposure to various health careers that they may choose to pursue after high school graduation. KP LAUNCH interns will have the opportunity to: Work full-time (40 hours per week) within various Kaiser Permanente departments for eight weeks paid at minimum wage Learn about a variety of different health careers opportunities Meet and learn from health professionals and their internship program peers Gain professional and personal development through workshops The summer 2017 program in the Regional Offices in downtown Oakland is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 19 and end on Friday, August 11. HCSA summer internship participants will: Intern in Alameda County’s Public Health, Behavioral Health, Environmental Health, or Administration/Indigent Health departments where they will assist with department duties and engage in hands-on, experiential learning projects Participate in seminars and workshops that will expose students to a broad range of public/community health careers Undertake group projects that promote teamwork and collaboration Learn how to use social media to promote public and community health Summer Interns will also be enrolled OUSD’s summer internship seminar. Priority will be given to applicants who are current 11th graders enrolled in OUSD health pathways. For more information please visit our website at MIMS Application Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program The Stanford Summer Community College Premedical Program (SSCCPP) targets current community college students considered low-income and/or underrepresented in medicine providing exposure to medicine and health through topics in health disparities, leadership challenges in health provision and administration, science success strategies, professional development, clinical exposure, successful preparation for the medical school application process, postsecondary and graduate/professional school financing. For the first time ever, SSCCPP will be offered as a six-week residential program, allowing talented and motivated community college students interested in medicine to immerse themselves in the Stanford School of Medicine network through a variety of personal and professional development experiences. This program is designed to impact the San Francisco Bay area and its contiguous counties, promoting growth and diversity of the health workforce in the region. Register at http://www.chabotcollege.edu/admissions/registration/new.asp and obtain a W number for chabot.  We will then register you in CATEMA for Chabot to get an additional three credits for our class.

Seniors - Now is the time to start filling out the FAFSA paperwork.  You may not think you qualify but it would behoove all of you to do so!
